Family Access Passwords Riverview is now officially opening up the online Student Information system “Family Access” to all our district students’ parents. This will allow parents to log on to Skyward to see general student information, test scores, health and food service info, etc. (our high school students have been using a variation of this, “Student Access” for a number of years). Individual letters that include your user name and password, as well as explaining the process, are on their way home. If you have difficulty logging on, please contact Suzanne at olsens@riverview.wednet.edu
World Book Online Carnation Elem. has purchased access to World Book Encyclopedia online that is available for our families to use.

If
your computer has audio, there are some interesting translating
capabilities. Also available is a Spanish World Book on the site.
Please Be On Time! We’ve had a few kids coming late to class, which makes it difficult for teachers to start on time. These kids are not bus riders as we are aware that they are at the bus driver’s mercy. Our time with your kids is short and we value every minute. Please remember that classes start at 9:00am and do your best to have your students here on time.

Important Dates to Remember:
MSP Workbooks Final call – Parents interested in purchasing the student workbooks for the new Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) assessment that the state is using as their annual assessment need to contact your conferencing teacher to place your order. You have the option of paying with a check or having the amount deducted from your student’s parent support funds. Third through seventh grade workbooks are $16.50 with an optional parent/teacher book for $5, these include all the subjects tested at that grade level. Eighth grade books are $20 for science, math, or reading as these are subject specific and designed as a self-study workbook. Please call Mrs. Taylor at 425-844-4593 if you have any questions.
Individual Picture Re-Take Day For those students that missed having their picture taken on Oct. 6 & 7, there will be another opportunity on "re-take" day on Wed., Nov. 18. We have order forms available and will send them home next month per request. Pictures are taken by a professional photographer and are optional to purchase. Students that do not attend class on Wednesday morning, but would like to have their picture taken, will need to have their parent take them directly to the Carnation Elem. MPR between 9:00am and Noon.
4-8 Grade Themes to Seattle International District Wed., November 4, 2009 * We will be taking the students from our Wednesday morning Themes classes to tour Chinatown in the International District, visit a Fortune Cookie factory, enjoy Chinese cuisine, and tour the Wing Luke Asian Museum. We will be leaving school at 9:15am and returning around 4:00pm. Permission slips are due back no later than October 28, 2009. Spots on the trip will be limited to students in the Wednesday morning themes classes. * this field trip is during conference week.

Parent Drop-off in the morning. Just a reminder to be cautious when dropping off your student in the morning and to follow proper guidelines and speed limits while in the Carnation Elem. parking lot. We purposely begin our classes at 9:00am in an attempt to avoid the Carnation Elem. traffic. If you arrive at 9:00am or later you are expected to follow Carnation’s drop-off procedure which is to pull all the way forward to the CE office and allow your child to exit at this point (please do not stop in front of the alcove or drop off at the fence after 9:00am). To help alleviate congestion, try to drop-off your student before 9:00am. Classrooms are open at 8:50am. |
Parent Support Fund Reimbursements Please remember to turn these in to Stacy (not Suzanne at the district office). Please refer to page 15 of your PARADE Handbook for a detailed description of this program. You must include a properly filled out form as well as your signature on the actual receipt (not the form) and it must state how the purchase applies to your student’s SLP. The Reimbursement Form is now available online from our Home Page. Print off this form and submit it with your receipts. If you have any questions contact Stacy at 206.492.9034 or eldredges@riverview.wednet.edu

Included are; * Pepperidge Farms Products * V8 * Prego *Swanson Broths We do not need the entire label only the UPC Code. Just send them in your child’s communication folder.
Box Tops For Education Box Tops for Education is a great program as they actually send us cash to use in our program! You will find these on Betty Crocker, General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, Hefty & Ziploc products. We will continue to collect them throughout the year. Any questions regarding either of these programs, please contact Stacy.
