Tuesday K-3 Math

May 27, 2008

K-1 Class

Today we began working on learning about the measurement of length.  We did some activities with measuring ourselves with a string and then comparing the length with books, straws, and cubes.

2-3 Class

Today we reviewed the vocabulary associated with fractions.  Then we proceeded to review equivalent fractions and start learning about comparing and ordering fractions based on size.  Using actual fraction pieces I was able to show students that we need to look at the whole fraction rather than just the denominator to put the fractions in order.

Each week we will begin class with a timing for our addition math facts, with each student working at their own level.  It was great to have most of the students remember to bring their folders back.  It works best if students are able to do at least three timings at home each week.  Please feel free to give me call if you have any questions.
