Purpose: This
is a course in upper elementary school biology. Concepts covered include
scientific method, botany, zoology, and some microbiology. The focus is hands
on. This is a supplement to science instruction at home.
Description of learning
activities: : Most in-class time is spent exploring,
experimenting and presenting results of research or investigations. There will
be some dissecting and creating diagrams.
Follow-up or at-home activities:
Students are expected to spend about an hour each week
preparing for the following week's class.
Much of this time will be spent reading and researching.
