We will be meeting together next week to party! We will meet at 10:30 and will finish no later than 12:15.  Make sure you pick up an authentic recipe from me or from your folder in Mrs. Marshall's room to make for the final class.  You will get 10 points for making the food and bringing it to class.  This will also be your last opportunity to hand in any missing assignments or tests for half credit back. Be sure to bring your food, and your appetite and be ready to celebrate the end of the year!!  See you then!

Remember to bring a lunch or money to buy lunch, and your "American Sabor" packet.

1. You will be having a final test next week, on Chapters 10-12. Go to www.mhhe.com/sabiasque4. Click on online workbook and do the activities for Lecciones 10, 11, and 12 (the first half of 12).  Study, study, study!!  It will also be helpful for you to look at p. 325-328 in the textbook for a concise grammar summary.  Make sure you look back in the book to review parts that you have problems with and write down any questions you need to ask to review for the test next Monday.


Spanish 1

1. If you want half credit back for your tests, correct them this week and hand them in on Monday.  Also, check your grades and hand in any missing assignments that you want partial credit for. 

2.  Study for the final test of the year next week.  Make sure you study p. 143-152 of your textbook and review your numbers and present progressive tense on p. 167-170.  Also, go to www.mhhe.com/sabiasque4. Click on online workbook and do the activities for the parts of lecciones 5 and 6 that are on the test.  (We only did the first half of leccion 5 and the first half of leccion 6).  If you have any questions, make note of them and either call me  (333-4061) or e-mail me, sjavikl@riverview.wednet.edu.  We will also be studying this for the first hour of class on Monday.  See you then!!

Project: You will be making a travel brochure for a country of your choice.  This travel brochure should show a variety of topics about that country, and has the goal of enticing someone to visit that country.  By March 10, you should know what information you want to include in your brochure, what pictures you want included, and have a general outline of what your brochure will look like.

1.      Be prepared for a vocabulary test on 3/10.  It will be based on the vocabulary on p. 141.

1. Finish reading and studying the packet of cultural information in preparation for your project we will be working on through the rest of the year.  Read it through once without looking anything up to get the basics of the passage, then look up the words you don't know and re-read a few times until you really understand the passage.  Taking notes as you go along will help you to remember what you learned.

2.      Do all exercises in the manual on p. 45-47.

***Like the nosotros form, the vosotros form also does not take a stem change.*
6.      Now, as a review of all the present tense conjugations, go to the bottom of that page, and click “Generate Unique Quiz”.  Click “yes” when asked whether to include the vosotros/vosotras forms.  Take the quiz.  If you didn’t get 100%, then you can make another quiz.  Continue doing unique quizzes until you get 100% on a quiz the first time through.  Note: These quizzes use verbs that you may not be familiar with, so you will have to know the conjugations rules well in order to pass.
7.      Go to p. 80-81 and read the sections that are assigned to you.  Be prepared to read it aloud to the class and translate to English, if needed.

1. We will be reviewing a bit more on Monday and taking the test for Chapter 8.  Your homework for the week is to study for the test.  You may use your book, your workbook pages, or the website (www.mhhe.com/sabiasque4.com).  The following are all suggestions for studying this week.

2.Make sure you have the vocabulary memorized on p. 226-227. Also, you will want to write (or at least think of) definitions for vocabulary words in Spanish.  For example: La taza- se usa para tomar cafe o otros liquidos calientes. (Notice the use of the impersonal se in that definition).

3.  Write a few sentences about the differences and similarities between eating at restaurants in Spain and in the United States.  Use the passive se for these sentences.

4. Practice setting the table (what is the difference between una copa, una taza, y un vaso?)

5. Go over the restaurant vocabulary and practice ordering or being the waiter in Spanish.

1.      Do workbook pages 29-30, C, D, E and p. 32, F, G, and Para Entregar.
2.      Do the Intercambio found on p. 52-53.  You will need to work with another student on this, so make sure you have someone else’s phone number or can meet with someone at school.
3. Do Act. G on p. 51.  Write out the whole sentence filled in.

4.      Read your assigned paragraph on p. 54-55.  Practice reading it out loud and make sure you read it through enough times that you understand what it means.  We will be sharing these (reading in Spanish and translating into English) with the class next week.

5. Make a timeline of your life, including events projected in the future.  Each item you mention in your timeline should include the year in numerals and spelled out. (Example:  I was born in 1990, mil novecientos noventa) Include at least:

            the year you were born

            the year you will finish high school

            the year you will graduate from any post- high school education

            the year you will be 65 years old

    Add any other important dates in your life.  Be prepared to present this to the class next week.
