CAMP
Yes, we had fun, and might have learned a few things as well.
Parents, you need to know what a wonderful group of children you have. I have never been with a more supportive and positive group. They looked out for each other, had fun, and even found ways to make their teacher smile.
And now, on to the end of the year...
SCIENCE
As far back as recorded history goes, and most likely long before that, people have looked at the sky and wondered what the stars and planets were. With the advent of modern rockets we have been able to explore millions of miles beyond the Earth.
The rest of the flight unit will concentrate on rockets and Isaac Newton’s laws of motion.
The following due dates are for the last of this unit’s projects:
Model/Diorama: Due Thursday, June 5
Make a model, diorama, or 3-D scene related to your report topic.
Learning Center: Due Tuesday, June 10
The guidelines for the learning center will go home on Monday, June 2.
MODEL ROCKETS:
We will begin building our model rockets this week and start flying them (weather permitting) next week. I will give the students a launch schedule the day before they fly their rocket in case any parents want to come watch.
MATH
Review, review, review…
Looking back on the year, students have learned a great deal. So while I will be presenting a few more advanced concepts to give them a head-start on 6th grade, we will spend most of our time reviewing and polishing what they have already learned.
READING
Students will continues working in small groups, reading a book of their choice from a list I will provide.
SPELLING
Students are finishing the independent spelling for the year. All work is due by Thursday, June 12.
TOLT VISITATION
A reminder that on Thursday, June 5th, 5th graders will be visiting Tolt Middle School. They will leave Carnation at 2:30 and should be picked up at Tolt between 5 and 5:15.
